(Norwalk, Conn.) On June 27, 2023, Mayor Rilling highlighted how the City of Norwalk was recently recognized by CT Insider, Fortune Magazine and Livability.com, as a top City to live in. 

“I believe Norwalk has been on the rise for quite some time and it's clear that people are noticing,” said Mayor Rilling. “Norwalk is authentic. It has something for everyone whether that’s our fantastic restaurants and nightlife, family amenities, outdoor activities, or our thriving arts and cultural community. Through smart investments in our world-class schools, small business community, parks and beaches, and transportation infrastructure, we are working to continue to deliver the highest quality of life for all our residents.”

This month, Fortune Magazine ranked the City of Norwalk as the best place for families to live within CT and 29th in the nation. In their analysis of nearly 1,900 cities across the country, the best places to live scored high in areas such as health care, education, and resources for seniors. You can learn more here.

Fortune Magazine stated: “Living in Norwalk is all about enjoying the beautiful coastline and ocean at its borders. Located on the northern shore of Long Island Sound, Norwalk is home to some of the state’s best boating spots and public beaches.”

Last week, Livability.Com named the City of Norwalk as one of the best cities in the nation to live in on their top 100 list of cities. In partnership with Applied Geographic Solutions, Livability.com curated a list of the top 100 cities based on nearly 100 data points and an algorithm that measures a city’s economy, housing and cost of living, amenities, transportation, environment, safety, education and health. Livabiliy.Com stated: "A coastal city in southern Fairfield County, Norwalk, CT, makes for a great place to live for both work and daily living. The city of more than 91,000 offers something for all its residents, and it’s easy to see why Norwalk is one of the best places to live in the U.S. 

Nestled along the Long Island Sound, Norwalk provides quick and easy access to New York City. Commuters can travel to and from four Metro-North Railroad stations — Merritt 7, Rowayton, East Norwalk and South Norwalk — or drive via the Merritt Parkway, Route 7 or I-95. Finally, last week, CT Insider ranked the City of Norwalk as number one for quality of life among 25 of the most populous cities in CT. CT Insider used 11 metrics associated with livability, including bars, commute time, driving distance from the airport, driving distance from the hospital, diversity, grocery stores, housing units, public schools, libraries, restaurants and transit stops to come to this conclusion.
