MAYOR’S UPDATES
- Citizen Service Hub: Join me for a Citizen Service Hub on Thursday, June 29th for our which will include a city update and an opportunity to hear from residents at the Waterside at Building One Community (417 Shippan Ave, Stamford) at 5:30 PM.
- Stamford Delivers in State: Thanks to our advocacy and our state delegation standing up for the city, Stamford received even more ECS funding for Stamford Schools including $300 million in reimbursement for Stamford school construction (Westhill and Roxbury), and tax cuts for middle-class families.
- Stamford Awarded Three State Resiliency Grants: I am pleased to announce that we were awarded three grants from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection totaling $1.2 million for the Toilsome Brook project and the Heat Resiliency and Cummings Pond projects. These grants will go towards protecting our city and making Stamford a more climate-resilient city.
- City of Stamford’s Juneteenth Celebration: This past week, I was proud to join community members to raise the Juneteenth flag outside the Government Center. This weekend, we also hosted the first city-wide Juneteenth celebration, commemorating the end of slavery and the continued pursuit of justice and equality for all.
- The Senior Olympics: Congratulations to all the seniors who participated in the Senior Center Olympics. It was a great day, full of competition and fun!
- Stamford Police Department Swearing-in: Congratulations to the five newest recruits of the Stamford Police Department. It was an honor to swear in the officers, and we are grateful for their service and dedication to the public safety and welfare of our City.
- Local Business Leaders Roundtable: It was great to join Comptroller Sean Scanlon, State Senator Ryan Fazio, State Representative Rachel Khanna, and local business leaders for a roundtable discussion on how our city can collaborate with the state to spur economic growth, as well as promote and enhance workforce development opportunities in our community.

- Stamford Connectivity Survey: The City of Stamford is embarking on an initiative that would enhance and improve the vibrancy, livability, and connectivity for residents of the entire city. The concept is to implement a well-designed strategy that supports pedestrian friendly streetscape, safe and convenient access to the Transit Center, green space, connectivity between neighborhoods, and cultural initiatives to stimulate economic growth with a positive return to taxpayers. - Pacific Street Village Streetscape Project: The City of Stamford Transportation, Traffic & Parking Department will be holding a virtual public meeting about the Pacific Street Village Streetscape Project on July 11th at 5:00 PM via Zoom. The project seeks to increase safety, reduce speeding, and improve walkability. Other goals include improving access to the train station and the businesses along the street. - Parks Strategic Plan: The Mayor recently launched the Parks Strategic Plan and wants to hear from residents on how to manage and invest in the sustainability of our parks, beaches, and trails. Visit, www.stamfordct.gov/psp for more information and to fill out the survey.

- 4th of July Celebration: In celebration of July 4th, the City of Stamford will hold fireworks at Cummings Beach on Friday, June 30th. The entertainment will begin at 6:00 pm and residents will be able to bring blankets and chairs to the beach. There will be food trucks onsite, and the fireworks will begin shortly after 9:00 pm. The rain date will be Friday, July 7th.

Employment Opportunities in the City
Traffic
- Washington Blvd Road Closure
- Washington Blvd from Richmond Hill to Station Place will be closed from 7 pm to 7 am on June 26th to June 30th. Find detour and more information here.
- ConnDOT Stamford Station Construction
- Construction continues at Stamford Station, please be mindful and plan ahead.
- Passengers can find the updated train schedule here.
- New Canaan Branch Line Improvement Work: Improvements on the New Canaan Branch Line will begin on Tuesday, May 30, and bus service will replace all train service. The track improvements and bus substitution are estimated to run through August.
- Upon completion, an existing speed restriction in the Stamford area will be eliminated and trains will be able to travel 20mph faster through this section.
