The campaign committee of Democratic Party candidate Richard Blumenthal, Blumenthal for Connecticut, refunded $5,000 to David Alexander Messer on July 2, according to the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

FEC data shows the refunded expenditure was for: "Contribution refund to an individual, partnership or limited liability company."

Blumenthal for Connecticut has refunded $22,550 total since Feb. 1.
