Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Connecticut-Stamford

In-state tuition and fees rose 6.6 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Connecticut-Stamford, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Connecticut residents paid $13,698 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $850 more than the $12,848 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 163.3 percent more than residents this year, or $36,066. Their price tag grew 3.3 percent from $34,916 in 2017-18.

About 92 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Connecticut residents. About 5 percent are residents of other states and 3 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 76 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 339 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4.1 million and 218 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.4 million.

Including all undergraduates (1,977), 976 students used grants or scholarships totaling $9.4 million, and 687 students took out $4.4 million in federal student loans.
