Cost of college went up for all students at Norwalk Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.8 percent for 2018-19 at Norwalk Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Connecticut residents paid $4,414 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $78 more than the $4,336 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 198.6 percent more than residents this year, or $13,182. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 2.3 percent from $12,888 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Connecticut residents. And about 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 77 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 451 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.3 million and 56 students took out student loans totaling more than $168,632.

Including all undergraduates (5,413), 2,848 students used grants or scholarships totaling $11.8 million, and 201 students took out $793,444 in federal student loans.
